The programme aims to develop tailor made projects in cities that generate new opportunities to meet citizen and city needs such as supporting the goals of inclusion and equity, development of emerging economies, sustainable employment, talent leadership hubs and education transformation.

Joining up the two and ensuring all citizens have access to the skills needed presents a great opportunity for cities, citizens and employers around the world. Talent Cities will help mayors and city leaders to share experiences of how to do this and help cities to realize their full potential through the power of their people”, said Mayor of Bristol Marvin Rees, GPM Executive Committee.
Talent Cities is tailored to the economic plan of each city aligning education and lifelong learning with economic goals and individual success. Data-driven, Talent Cites provides mayors with real-time, globally competitive ‘talent evidence’ to pursue foreign investment, attract businesses, create jobs, develop start-ups and ensure that citizens are equipped with the skips to fulfil, shape and lead the talent readiness requirement of the future.
“Talent Cities is exemplary and outstanding for the work concept of the GPM. Through a direct approach in the cities, current questions are captured in all their dimensions and answered together. The needs of the labour market are brought into line with the existing qualifications of urban citizenship in a multidimensional process. The GPM Talent Cities programme provides mayors with the benefits of interconnectivity among cities around this all-important issue of talent. “Through best practices, shared data insights, global skills and credential exchanges and Talent Bridges, deploying 21st century skills to students and trainees across cities. Talent Cities will be an effective tool for mayors and their cities to find pragmatic solutions to critical issues through talent development”, said GPM Executive Director Caroline Schep.
By completion the cities can earn the GPM Talent Cities Certification, credentials that identify the city as a smart talent city. Current interested mayors represent cities in Africa, the USA, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
